Traffic Story: Sometimes there is Justice!

BJ Stone likes to blog about maddening traffic situations. Well, here is mine:

There is a crosswalk from Bradley University at Glenwood and Main; it is right in front of the Robertson Fieldhouse. I use this walk when I am doing a training run or bike ride and wish to go north of Main street, especially if there is traffic about.

There is a discussion of this set-up at Peoria Pundit. (Actually, there is a nice discussion on whether merging a school district which isn't doing so well with one that is doing well can be found there at Peoria Pundit as well, but I digress).

Anyway, this cross walk has a button which one can press to get a green light. The trouble is that many motorists are not used to stopping there, so it is common to see motorists run a solid red light. Yeah, it gives me a "self righteousness pump" to think that all such motorists are evil, stupid, cell phone talking Dick Cheney loving morons, but in reality they probably just zoned out the way that I have so many times.

But, every time this happens, I think "I sure wish a cop would have seen that."

Well, yesterday, I was driving home from an errand and there was someone in a sports car just weaving around through traffic going way too fast. Guess what? There was a cop, and sure enough the cop put on his lights and pulled that bozo over!!!!

That really gave me a lift.

Sad isn't it, how happy I get over little things like that?

On the exercise front, I had my best swim in a while, (10 x 100 on the 2; each in 1:36-1:37; ok there was one 1:38, but also one 1:35) and then I had a good weight session.

Frank loved your story about the car weaving bozo getting a ticket. I think we all feel a guilty pleasure when we see someone get their comeuppance.
