Sunny Sunday
It is a beautiful sunny morning and I just have to get out there for a few miles, taper or not. Seeing this old photo (taken just prior to the swim at the Mrs. T triathalon in 1999; I did the relay) reminds me that I have to make time to get back into the water. I've only swam once in 2006! My upper body misses the workouts. This also reminds me that I have to choose a focus for the summer and fall. Do I give my walking muscles a break and focus on getting some of my swimming back? Last year, I barely broke 17 minutes for the 1000 yard swim. I think that I'd have enough time to train for the Big Shoulders 5K swim in Chicago; I swam a 1:43 in 2001 (bottom 1/3 of the field).
Do I return to running for a season and try to improve on my recent pathetic running times (23:xx for the 5k, up from the high 19's in 1998) or do I focus on judged walking and try for a 50K where they give DQ'ed 50K walkers the option of finishing in the "no loss of contact" division?
Ah decisions, decisions. But it really doesn't matter as this is just recreation, right?

Hey Ollie,
No fare cutting off the photo to hide your gut!
Bwahaha
Andy
Dr. Andy, I don't know when you joined the CVRT, but it was Cheesedale who took that photo.
But yeah, he did all of us a big favor; my gut, even when I am at my most slender, looks a bit like the skin of one of those Chinese dogs. :-)
