whoops!
I am glad that no one went by my Superbowl Prediction. The Steelers were better but the officiating stunk. Evidently this is one issue (officiating) those at Redstate.org and at the Daily Kos agreed on. I've never seen someone get a 15 yard penalty for making a tackle via a body-block before. (the call as that the player undercut a blocker with a body block, but replays showed that this player, the Seattle quarterback, actually made the tackle!)
I am trying to talk myself out of being lazy and staying on the treadmill this morning.
Also, I actually got some comments on yesterday's genesis post. I should be clear about my terms. By "scholar", I mean someone with academic credentials. So, by "Bible scholar" I mean someone who has published in standard peer reviewed journals; this person would probably have a Ph. D, and would certainly have command of the Biblical languages and know about the culture and times. I wouldn't qualify; not even close, though I would qualify as a third rate scholar in mathematics.
As far as the translation I chose: mostly, I chose it because that is the newest one that I had on my CD; it was easy to cut and paste. I would have preferred to have used the NRSV or, even better, the Tanakh (1985 version, Jewish Publication Society) but I was too lazy to type it all out.
