ND vs. Navy: 42 losses in a row

Ok, why does Notre Dame continue to play Navy? Because Navy wants the game; this is, in effect, payback for the United States Navy using Notre Dame for some of its office training during World War II; then Notre Dame was in danger of shutting down due to a lack of students (Notre Dame was an all-male school in those days).

So today's game ended up 42-21, with Navy getting the last score of the game within the last 2 minutes. Basically, Notre Dame's team was too big, too strong, and too fast, and yes, very well coached. But, as usual, Navy stayed in the game and kept hitting until the very end.
